The Lung Disease Foundation of Central PA Wraps Up Coloring Contest, Announces Winners
Altoona, PA: The Lung Disease Foundation of Central PA held a Coloring Contest to provide preventative and educational materials to youth during the time when schools were closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Altoona Area School District, Hollidaysburg Area School District, and Tyrone Area School District all participated and distributed a total of approximately 1,800 “Be Smart, Say No To Smoking” coloring books to their respective students either with homework packages or lunches being distributed to the students with simple instructions: color the drawing on the second page and return it to the Foundation to win a prize!
“Thanks to the generosity of PS Solutions, who sponsored the grand prize of a tablet, we received a large number of entries for the contest,” Sherri Stayer, Executive Director of the Lung Disease Foundation of Central PA, shared. The second and third prizes were funded through a grant held by the Lung Disease Foundation of Central PA to perform the duties of the Tobacco Control Service Provider in Blair and Bedford Counties from the American Lung Association.
Contest winners include: Leonidas DelBaggio (Tyrone Elementary School), Grand Prize Winner of the tablet; Lucas Jackson-English (The STEAM Learning Center at Penn-Lincoln), Second Prize winner of a $50 Gift Card; Karissa Sue Biddle (Homeschool/Hollidaysburg) Third Prize Winner of $25 Gift Card.
As the Tobacco Control Service Provider for Blair and Bedford Counties, the Lung Disease Foundation of Central PA is charged with providing prevention, education, and tobacco cessation programs, as well as working to eliminate exposure to secondhand smoke. It is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit foundation founded by Dr. George M. Zlupko.
