Free classes designed specifically for adults like you, who want to quit smoking. Hundreds of thousands have become smokefree through the American Lung Association’s Freedom From Smoking® program, either online, in-person, or on your own.

We offer informative programs on the dangers of E-Cigarettes, Vaping and Juuling for students, parents, educators, school administrators, counselors, and nurses. We also offer cessation programs to help people quit.

Screening and Early Detection of Lung Cancer can eliminate a lot of undue duress at the later stages of the disease progression. Please read through the information We Offer to our Early Detection Program participants. If you are over the age of 55 and have smoked one or more packs of cigarettes a day, you should consider the Lung Cancer Early Detection Program. Over 300 patients are already enrolled and several have had their lung cancer diagnosed and cured.

As the Tobacco Control Services Provider for Blair and Bedford Counties, the Lung Disease Foundation of Central PA is aimed with providing prevention, education, and tobacco cessation programs, as well as working to eliminate exposure to secondhand smoke.

We helped 39 families last year receive safe sleep education and a safe sleep environment for their baby through Cribs For Kids, helped over 100 people quit smoking through our Freedom From Smoking programs, secured Young Lungs at Play signs for recreational facilities, and educated hundreds of educators, parents and students about the dangers of E-Cigarettes and Juuling.
THE LUNG DISEASE FOUNDATION OF CENTRAL PA FOR LUNG HEALTH
The Lung Disease Foundation of Central PA was formed as a non-profit corporation in 2013 by George M. Zlupko, M.D., FCCP., to focus on education and the high tech development of pulmonary services in Central PA. The Foundation is a major supporting element of the Lung Disease Center, as well as a willing partner to other local organizations involved in improving the services for lung disease patients in the region. The Foundation provides educational resources such as printed material, events, a speaking series and presentations.

FOUNDER OF THE LUNG DISEASE FOUNDATION
George M. Zlupko, M.D., FCCP. founded the Altoona Lung Specialists practice in 1977 in Altoona, Pennsylvania and then went on to form the Lung Disease Foundation of Central PA in 2013 and is the Chairman of the Foundation Board.
Dr. Zlupko writes a weekly column, “Ask The Specialist”, which is published in the Altoona Mirror featuring up-to-date news and advice on lung health. Dr. Zlupko is renowned on the East Coast as a guest lecturer/speaker for medical professionals on subjects ranging from COPD and Lung Disease to smoking cessation.
